Modix V3 BIG-60

The Modix V3 BIG-60 is an FDM 3D printer from Modix with a 600 x 600 x 660 mm build volume.

Calibration

• Start with frame squareness before any slicer tuning.

Action: Assemble or inspect the BIG-60 frame so that the gantry, vertical towers, and base are mechanically square; verify that all corner fasteners are torqued evenly, the Z uprights are parallel, and the motion path is unobstructed across the full 600 × 600 travel envelope.

Common defects

• Large-format bed variance and edge-level sensitivity

Symptoms: First layers look perfect in the center but fail near one side; perimeter lines may be too thin on one edge and overly squished on another; tall prints can show subtle tilt-related layer bias.

Likely cause: On a 600 × 600 mm-class machine, tiny frame or bed parallelism errors become much more visible across the full travel. The BIG-60’s scale makes calibration less forgiving than on a small desktop printer.
