The Leapfrog Bolt Pro is a professional, industrial-grade FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer designed and manufactured by the Dutch company Leapfrog 3D Printers. Engineered for engineering departments, educational institutions, and small-scale manufacturing facilities, the machine is built around an Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) motion platform. Calibration

The IDEX kinematics setup requires precise geometric calibration between the two nozzles along all three axes (X, Y, and Z) to ensure clean multi-material transitions and prevent the inactive nozzle from scraping the printed object. Follow these eight calibration steps:

• Mechanical Nozzle Height Alignment (Z-Axis):

Both nozzles must sit at the same height relative to the bed surface. Position the left head (Head 1) in the center of the bed and gauge its height.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• X-Axis Guide Rail Wear: Due to high-speed travel and two carriages riding on a single guide rail, the X-axis linear guide requires regular lubrication.
• Symptoms: Squeaking sounds during travel, carriage play, and surface finish degradation.
• Solution: Clean the rail weekly with a degreasing agent and apply low-viscosity lithium grease (e.g., Mobilux EP2).
