ETEC Xtreme 8K: Technical Overview
Light Engine
Dual parallel 4K DLP projectors with UV light source cover the full 450×371 mm XY field. Native pixel ~75 µm; pixel-tuned intensity delivers Ra <1 µm surface finish.
Top-Down Vat Architecture
Unlike bottom-up DLP, the part grows submerged in the heated resin vat while the UV beam exposes the free surface from above. This drastically reduces separation forces and enables minimal support structures.
Build Volume
450 × 371 × 399 mm (~66.7 litres): one of the largest DLP build envelopes commercially available. Parts up to 450 mm long print in a single run.
Speed and Throughput.
Calibration: ETEC Xtreme 8K
Platform Levelling
Verify flatness against the vat glass with feeler gauges at 4 corners; parallelism < 0.05 mm. Repeat after every material change.
Dual-Projector Stitching
Run the ETEC calibration pattern: the system auto-aligns the overlap zone of both projectors for a smooth image. Recheck after transport or mechanical servicing.
Resin Temperature
Allow 20–30 min warm-up to operating temperature (typically 25–35 °C).
Common Defects: ETEC Xtreme 8K
Inter-layer Delamination
Cause: insufficient UV power or excessive print speed. Fix: reduce layer thickness, increase exposure time.
Part Detachment (Loss of Adhesion)
Cause: inadequate base layers in top-down architecture. Fix: increase base-layer count and over-cure; clean the platform surface.
Warping on Wide Flat Parts
Cause: photochemical shrinkage at large XY cross-sections. Fix: add ribs to thin sections; optimise post-cure UV profile.
Use Cases: ETEC Xtreme 8K
Automotive Prototypes and Functional Test Parts
The 450×371 mm platform produces bumpers, interior panels, and vent grilles in a single build without splitting.
Series Production for Defence and Aerospace
>150 L/day throughput at consistent quality makes the system competitive with injection moulding for short-to-medium runs.
