3D Systems Figure 4 Production

The 3D Systems Figure 4 Production is a DLP 3D printer from 3D Systems with a 125 x 70 x 346 mm build volume.

The 3D Systems Figure 4 Production is a DLP 3D printer from 3D Systems with a 125 x 70 x 346 mm build volume.

Specifications

Light Engine (DLP)

Identical to the Figure 4 Standalone: per-pixel calibrated DLP module guaranteeing Six Sigma repeatability (Cpk > 2) across all validated resins. Accuracy ±25 µm for critical dimensions.

Integrated Post-Processing

Built-in module covers IPA washing, hot-air drying, and UV curing: a full cycle from build platform to finished dry part without manual intervention.

Build Volume

125 × 70 × 346 mm. The 346 mm Z stroke is the key advantage for elongated parts such as hearing aid shells and dental splints.

Speed

Up to 100 mm/hr in prototyping mode; 65 mm/hr in production mode for maximum repeatability.

Materials.

Calibration

Per-Pixel Calibration

Automated per-pixel procedure (~20 min) guarantees Six Sigma quality. Run monthly or whenever the UV lamp is replaced.

Wash Parameters

Set IPA time and concentration per resin following the 3D Systems chart. Verify residual resin with a UV inspection lamp after every material change.

UV Post-Cure

Strictly follow recommended cure times: excessive dose embrittles EPU elastomers. Verify Shore D after each parameter change.

Six Sigma Verification.

Common defects

Residual Resin After Washing

Cause: depleted IPA or insufficient wash time. Fix: replace IPA; extend cycle by 20%.

Brittleness After UV Post-Cure

Cause: excessive UV dose. Fix: reduce cure time; follow the material data sheet.

Mid-Print Part Detachment

Cause: insufficient platform adhesion. Fix: increase base layers; slow the peel speed; check levelling.

Batch-to-Batch Dimensional Drift

Cause: varying resin temperature or UV power.

What it is used for

Medical Devices (ISO 13485 / FDA)

Closed-loop zero-touch cycle + Cpk > 2 directly supports FDA 21 CFR Part 820 manufacturing processes.

Custom Hearing Aids

Proven production reference: leading OEM manufacturers use Figure 4 Production for zero manual handling after job start.

Dental Splints (Series, with Traceability).
