The Duplicator 7 (D7) is a DLP 3D printer from Wanhao with a 120 x 70 x 200 mm build volume.

Light Source / Projector

DLP projector at 405 nm UV wavelength. Early models used a standard business projector with a UV-transmissive 5.5-inch 2K LCD mask to shape the image. Later versions (D7 v1.5, D7 Plus) moved to dedicated DLP light engine modules.

Optics

The architecture uses a projector to expose each full layer at once. Early D7 units have noticeable light intensity non-uniformity: stronger in the center, weaker at the edges, with no Fresnel correction lens.

Build Platform

Metal build plate with manual leveling. No automatic sensors.

Calibration

Calibration for the Wanhao Duplicator 7

1. Build Plate Leveling

Place a sheet of A4 paper on the bottom of the vat. Lower the platform to contact and tighten the bolts. Expected result: The paper pulls with light, even resistance. Tip: The PDMS vat is harder than FEP: do not over-tighten during leveling.

2. Bottom Exposure

Set 55-70 s for standard resin in Creation Workshop (Bottom Exposure Time).

Common defects

Common Defects on the Wanhao D7

PDMS Vat Leakage

Original PDMS-coated vats last 50-100 prints. When PDMS cracks, resin can penetrate to the projector. Replacement with an FEP-based aftermarket vat is mandatory for intensive use.

Layer Separation and Falling Parts

Weak UV uniformity at edges and degraded PDMS lead to undercure. Check PDMS for cloudiness; center parts on the build plate; increase normal exposure time.
