Light Source

The Mars 4 DLP uses a Texas Instruments (TI DLP) projector chip operating at 405 nm UV wavelength, paired with an LG LED module rated for 20,000+ hours: roughly 10 times longer than typical LCD screens in competing printers.

Optics

A 13-element optical system delivers 4 mW/cm² light intensity at 95% uniformity across the full build plate. The DLP projector exposes each layer in its entirety simultaneously, with no mechanical movement of the light assembly.

Build Platform

Metal print platform with manual leveling. No automatic Z-sensors: leveling requires a 5-point paper test or visual inspection.

Calibration for the Elegoo Mars 4 DLP

1. Platform Leveling

Place a sheet of paper (80 g/m², ~0.1 mm) on the FEP bottom of the vat. Lower the platform to Home position; tighten the bolts until the paper moves with light, even resistance across the full width. Expected result: Uniform resistance with no soft spots. Tip: Re-level after every FEP replacement or after transporting the printer.

Suction Cup / Part Detachment

Flat closed horizontal surfaces create a vacuum when the layer peels from the FEP. Fix: tilt the model 15-45°; add drainage holes (ø 2-3 mm) to closed cavities; reduce lift speed to 40-60 mm/min.

Layer Shift

Horizontal banding or stair-step displacements indicate Z-axis play or vibration during fast lifts. Tighten eccentric nuts on the Z-rail; lubricate the lead screw; reduce bottom lift speed.
