Laser and Wavelength

The Neo450e is equipped with a 1 W solid-state UV laser at 355 nm, driven by a galvanometer scanning system. The laser supports SD and HD modes (similar to Neo450s) but at reduced build speed due to the halved power output.

The galvanometer architecture is identical to the Neo450s, covering the full 450 × 450 mm aperture. At 1 W, scan speeds are lower, but HD-mode accuracy remains competitive.

Calibration

• Z-zero: set the platform-to-vat gap (0.1 mm feeler gauge). Check after every vat swap. The 1 W laser is proportionally more sensitive to Z-zero errors than the 2 W version.
• XY galvanometer calibration: print a calibration coupon with targets at 5 positions (4 corners + center). Tolerance: ≤ 0.1 mm per 100 mm. Corner errors scale with aperture: 450 × 450 mm requires more careful corner validation than smaller machines.

Incomplete cure on thin walls, brittleness or delamination at walls < 0.8 mm. Cause: insufficient UV dose at standard speed settings. Fix: reduce scan speed by 10–15% or add a double-pass for thin cross-sections.

Warping on solid parts: distortion of thick-walled zones. Cause: slow build allows thermal stress accumulation. Fix: add internal ribs; orient heavy sections toward the build platform.
