Specifications

The Sovol SV04 is an Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) 3D printer built upon a Cartesian XZ-Head, Y-Bed kinematic frame (commonly referred to as a "bed flinger"). In Mirror Mode, the printer physically divides its X-axis workspace into two equal halves, allowing the simultaneous production of two mirror-symmetrical parts (e.g., left and right components) in a single print job. This configuration presents unique mechanical challenges regarding structural rigidity, synchronization, and inertial mass management.

Calibration

Achieving clean prints in IDEX Mirror Mode requires highly meticulous physical and software calibration. Follow these eight essential steps:

• Z-Axis Gantry Leveling (Physical Alignment): Ensure the X-axis gantry is perfectly parallel to the printer's upper frame. With the motors disabled, manually rotate the Z lead screws until both left and right carriages sit at the exact same height relative to the frame base.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• X-Axis Sagging due to Carriage Weight: The dual direct-drive assembly makes the X-axis carriage assembly exceptionally heavy. If the dual Z lead screws are not perfectly synchronized or if the lead screw nuts become worn, the gantry will tilt, resulting in poor bed leveling.
• Solution: Routinely inspect the Z-axis synchronization belt at the top of the frame.
