Specifications

The Snapmaker 2 A150 Dual Extruder is a modified variant of the compact modular 3-in-1 machine, retrofitted with the official Snapmaker Dual Extrusion Module. This hardware upgrade replaces the standard single-extrusion FDM toolhead, enabling dual-material and multi-color printing capabilities while utilizing the original rigid Cartesian lead screw gantry frame.

  • Kinematics: Cartesian coordinate system. Motion across the X, Y, and Z axes is driven by enclosed linear modules equipped with internal stainless steel lead screws and linear guide rails. Vertical movement is managed by a single vertical linear module.

Calibration

Configuring the Snapmaker 2 A150 Dual Extruder requires careful physical and software alignment of both hotends:

  • Mechanical Z-Offset Balancing:

Both nozzles must be aligned to the exact same Z-height when in their active positions. Execute the manual calibration wizard on the touchscreen. Adjust the height of the left nozzle using the calibration card, then perform the same test for the right nozzle.

Common defects

Adding the Dual Extrusion Module to the A150 introduces extra mechanical complexity and potential failure points.

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Nozzle Lifting Mechanism Jams:

This is a common issue. Wear dust from belts, brass fragments from lead screws, or fine filament hairs can migrate into the lifting mechanism gears, locking the inactive nozzle in the down position. This leads to the inactive nozzle colliding with the printed part.

What it is used for

Recommended applications

  • Complex Geometries with Water-Soluble Supports (PLA + PVA):

Ideal for printing parts with internal channels, nested components, and severe overhangs that cannot be cleaned mechanically.

  • Dual-Color Graphic Overlays:

The precise X/Y calibration allows for clean multi-color panels, logos, and dual-color enclosures.
