The E2 is an FDM 3D printer from Raise3D with a 330 x 240 x 240 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Raise3D E2 is a professional-grade prosumer FDM 3D printer. Engineered for industrial labs, educational institutions, and small-batch production facilities, it represents one of the most prominent platforms featuring an Independent Dual Extruder (IDEX) motion layout on the market.

Hotend and Extruder

The E2 features an IDEX (Independent Dual Extruders) configuration consisting of two independently driven print heads along the horizontal X-axis gantry. The extruders utilize a direct-drive arrangement optimized with a custom-geared drive system. This direct path makes the printer highly capable of handling soft, flexible filaments (down to Shore 70A hardness).

Calibration

To master the IDEX kinematics and maintain dimensional alignment on the Raise3D E2, follow this calibration sequence:

  • Preheated Mesh Bed Leveling:

Heat the bed to your target printing temperature (e.g., 60°C for PLA or 100°C for ABS) and let the machine sit for 10 minutes to reach thermal equilibrium. Initiate the auto-leveling wizard.

  • Expected result: Creation of a Z-axis compensation mesh in the firmware to ensure a flat first layer across the 330x240 mm build plate.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Heat Creep Jams in Closed Chamber: Printing PLA with the enclosure sealed traps heat, raising the internal temperature. The filament softens early inside the heatbreak, resulting in clogs. Solution: Remove the top cover when printing PLA or TPU.
  • Complex Nozzle Swap Process: Sapping nozzles requires loosening multiple structural brackets and routing delicate wiring.

What it is used for

Recommended Applications

  • Extremely Soft Flexible Parts (TPU, TPE): Thanks to the short direct-drive path and enclosed chamber, it excels at printing gaskets, bumpers, and footwear outsoles down to Shore 70A.
  • Duplication and Mirror Production: Printing two identical parts simultaneously reduces production times, making the printer highly efficient for small-business production.
