The Punchtec Connect XL is an FDM 3D printer from Punchtec with a 304 x 304 x 200 mm build volume.
The Punchtec Connect XL is a legacy representative of the first major wave of desktop consumer and semi-professional FDM 3D printers, launched around 2013–2014. Engineered and assembled by the American company Punchtec, the Connect XL was designed to offer an expanded build area built upon a simplified yet rugged mechanical frame, drawing heavily from RepRap community concepts and the Ord Bot Hadron frame design. During its release window, this printer was classified as a "large-format" desktop solution.
Hotend and Extruder
Stock configurations of the Connect XL feature a classic J-head hotend or an early E3D-style hotend equipped with an internal PTFE guide tube.
Maintaining the Punchtec Connect XL in optimal running condition requires a hands-on understanding of legacy RepRap architecture. Follow this calibration sequence:
The frame plates and aluminum extrusions can easily twist during shipping or if mounting bolts are over-tightened. Use a machinist's square to verify that the vertical columns are perpendicular to the Y-axis smooth rods.
