ProtoFab SLA1100

The ProtoFab SLA1100 is an SLA 3D printer from ProtoFab with a 1100 x 600 x 450 mm build volume.

Specifications

Lasers and Optics: Two independent 355 nm UV lasers (Nd:YVO4, ~300–500 mW each) with German ScanLab galvanometer scanners. Each laser covers its own zone across the 1.1 m platform; both operate in parallel to reduce print time for large cross-sections.

Scanner and Accuracy: Dual ScanLab galvanometric system; accuracy ±0.1 mm (L ≤ 100 mm), ±0.1%×L for longer spans; repeatability comparable to SLA600 when zone calibration is maintained. Ra < 0.05 µm: meets master-model and investment-casting requirements.

Platform: Marble/granite base for vibration isolation; precision Z-axis drive; build volume 1100×600×450 mm.

Calibration

Dual-Laser Zone Stitching: Critical procedure: stitch-test artefact, deviation ≤0.05 mm in the seam zone. Repeat after any >2°C room temperature shift.

1.1 m Platform Levelling: 5-point measurement along the long axis; planarity ±0.05 mm across the entire surface.

DLS Profile (Both Lasers): Matching cure-depth and surface parameters; verify each laser independently when changing materials.

Full-Size XY Check: 1000 mm calibration bar; ±1 mm acceptable at 1000 mm span.

Common defects

Zone-Stitching Seam: Thermal drift of the two scanners → visible seam. Fix: factory calibration + room temperature control.

Warping of Long Flat Parts: Support points every 150–200 mm; 0.05 mm layer; post-cure.

Delamination at Extremities: Correct F-theta correction in the ScanLab calibration file.

Surface Non-Uniformity: Clean optics + verify DLS profile.
