Printrbot Simple Maker's Kit (1405)

The Printrbot Simple Maker's Kit (1405) is an FDM 3D printer from Printrbot with a 140 x 140 x 140 mm build volume.

Calibration

• Leveling the Build Plate
• Step: Begin by ensuring the printer is on a flat, stable surface. Power on the printer and heat the bed to 60°C for PLA or 110°C for ABS. Use the printer’s menu to lower the nozzle to the first layer height. Insert a piece of paper between the nozzle and bed. Adjust the three leveling screws until the paper moves with slight resistance. Repeat this process for each corner of the bed.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Symptom: The extruder gear slips or fails to grip the filament, causing under-extrusion.
• Cause: The extruder spring tension is insufficient, or the gear teeth are worn from prolonged use.
• Solution: Replace the extruder gear with a reinforced version and adjust the spring tension using the set screw.
• Symptom: The Z-axis rod binds or wobbles during movement.
