Sonic Mighty 8K

The Sonic Mighty 8K is an LCD 3D printer from Phrozen with a 218 x 123 x 235 mm build volume.

Light Engine

10-inch monochrome 8K LCD panel (7680×4320 pixels) with a 405 nm UV LED array. XY resolution is 28 µm: nearly double the precision of the 4K predecessor at 52 µm.

Optics / Illumination

Parallel UV LED array with diffuser and high-contrast 8K panel. Monochrome panel delivers ~1.5-2.5 s per 50 µm layer; maximum print speed 70 mm/h.

Platform

Perforated aluminium build plate (218×123 mm) with manual levelling and dual precision linear Z-rails over a 235 mm stroke.

Build Volume

218 × 123 × 235 mm: medium-large envelope, accommodating ~12 dental arches or a batch of 30-40 miniatures per print.

Paper-sheet method with printer warmed up. Re-level after every FEP swap.

8K Exposure Matrix Test

28 µm pixel is brighter per unit area: start at 1.5 s normal ExpT, not the 4K baseline of 2.5 s.

FEP/nFEP Inspection

IPA + backlight check every ~1.5 kg of resin. Phrozen nFEP reduces peel force and extends LCD panel life.

Wi-Fi Monitoring

2.4 GHz network required. Phrozen App streams camera feed per layer.

Lift Speed for Viscous Resins.

Common defects

Suction Cupping

Closed cavities → drainage holes ≥2 mm + lift speed ≤3 mm/s + 1-2 s rest after lift.

Bloom / Overexposure

28 µm more sensitive to light bleed → reduce ExpT to Exposure Matrix minimum + AA Level 4.

Failed Adhesion / Layer on FEP

Large gap → re-level + clean platform with IPA + base ExpT 35-50 s.

Post-processing Warping

Thin walls → final UV cure 2-3 min at 40-45°C in chamber.

Filigree down to 0.3 mm; clean wax patterns for Au/Ag investment casting.
