The Longer LK5 (commonly marketed as the LK5 Pro) is a large-format FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer that represents an advanced evolution of the older LK1 platform. It combines a massive build volume of 300 x 300 x 400 mm with an upgraded frame design featuring diagonal support rods, silent electronics, and a color touchscreen interface.

Calibration

Tuning the Longer LK5's large build volume and Bowden setup requires a systematic approach. Follow these 8 steps:

• Glass Build Surface Prep and Thermal Equalization:

The Carborundum-coated glass plate can lose adhesion due to finger oils or dust. Clean the glass surface with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) when cold before starting a print.

• Expected result: A pristine build surface that guarantees strong first-layer adhesion.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Y-Axis Ghosting and Ringing:
• Symptoms: Surface ripples on printed parts along Y-axis faces, especially visible around corners and details.
• Cause: The heavy 300x300 mm bed and tempered glass build plate create high inertia during direction changes.
• Solution: Set Y-axis acceleration below 800 mm/s² in the slicer and keep outer perimeter printing speeds below 40-45 mm/s.
