Calibration

  • Inspect the frame before powering anything on.

Action: Place the E12 on a rigid, level surface and check the T-slot aluminum frame for square using a machinist square or a known-straight reference. Verify that the uprights, crossbeam, and bed carriage are not racked, and confirm that all factory fasteners are snug but not over-torqued.

Common defects

  • Flexible bed support / bed sag
  • Symptoms: First layer is perfect near some corners but too close or too far in the center; large flat parts show inconsistent adhesion; long prints show slight warping or a “wavy” bottom surface.
  • Cause: The review explicitly notes a thin 3 mm bed plate that bends easily, which reduces flatness consistency over the full 300 × 300 mm surface.

What it is used for

The Anet E12 is best suited to large-format functional FDM printing where build volume matters more than polished automation. Its 300 × 300 × 400 mm envelope makes it a practical choice for large prototypes, cosplay components, housings, templates, jigs, display models, and multi-part assemblies that would not fit on smaller beds.
