The Longer LK1 Plus is an upgraded and modernized iteration of the original large-format LK1 FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer. While retaining the massive build volume of its predecessor, the LK1 Plus integrates critical hardware updates designed to improve reliability during long, continuous print cycles (often exceeding 24 hours) typical of large-scale parts.

• Hotend (Hotend): The Plus version utilizes a Bowden-style extrusion system feeding 1.75 mm filament. The extruder stepper motor is mounted on the vertical aluminum frame column.

Tuning the Longer LK1 Plus for precise print geometry and reliable sensor response requires a systematic calibration approach. Follow these 8 steps:

• Filament Runout Sensor Validation:

Before starting a long print, feed the filament through the runout sensor and into the extruder. Heat the nozzle and start a test print. Cut the filament right before the sensor inlet during operation.

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Filament Sensor Drag:
• Symptoms: Under-extrusion, filament grinding, or the extruder clicking as it struggles to pull filament.
• Cause: The entry and exit holes of the filament runout sensor have sharp edges, creating friction for abrasive or inconsistent filaments.
