Calibration
- Establish the material-and-tank pairing before anything else.
Action: Select the resin family you intend to use, then install the matching cartridge and a compatible resin tank before starting the job in PreForm or at the printer. The workflow described by Formlabs relies on the printer recognizing the resin through the cartridge chip and on the tank being matched to that material.
Common defects
- Slow compared with MSLA competitors
- Symptoms: Long print times, especially when building multiple parts or complex cross-sections; the printer may estimate dramatically longer durations than a masked-LCD resin machine.
- Causes: The Form 3+ uses a laser-tracing LFS process that draws perimeters and solid regions instead of exposing an entire layer at once.
