The Saturn 2 8K is an LCD 3D printer from Elegoo with a 219 x 123 x 250 mm build volume.

Calibration

Levelling: Manual paper test: critical for first-layer adhesion. Bottom exposure: 6–10 base layers × 30–60 s; normal exposure 2–3 s at 50 µm. Anti-aliasing: Enable AA×4 for smooth curved surfaces. Lift speed: 60–80 mm/min standard, 40 mm/min for large flat parts at risk of suction-cup failure. FEP check: Before every print: cloudy FEP raises peel force and triggers layer defects.

Common defects

Print not sticking / falling into vat: Bottom exposure too short or uneven levelling: increase exposure, re-level. Suction-cup deformation: Flat bottom surfaces: tilt 45°, add drainage holes. Layer lines visible: Reduce layer height to 50 µm + AA. Over-cure / detail loss: Reduce exposure time and validate with Calibration Matrix.

What it is used for

Miniatures: 20–30 figures per build at 28.5 µm detail. Prototypes: Enclosures, mechanical parts, snap-fits. Dental (educational): Diagnostic models: not for clinical use without validation. Small-batch accessories: Earrings, brooches, decorative elements.
