The Creatable D3 is an FDM 3D printer from Ateam Ventures Co. Ltd. with a 250 x 250 x 200 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Creatable D3, designed and manufactured by the South Korean tech firm Ateam Ventures Co. Ltd. and launched around 2015-2016, represents a unique iteration of the delta-style desktop 3D printer. Unlike classic Cartesian systems (like the Prusa i3) where the printhead and build plate move along independent linear coordinate axes, delta printers utilize three parallel arms that move vertically along three vertical pillars arranged at 120-degree intervals. This kinematic design requires complex trigonometric floating-point math calculated in real-time by the motherboard controller to position the printhead correctly.

Calibration

To achieve optimal dimensional accuracy and surface finish with the delta kinematics of the Creatable D3, complete the following 8 calibration steps:

  • Build Plate Cleaning and Preparation

Prior to starting any print, the BuildTak surface must be thoroughly cleaned. Use high-concentration Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA, minimum 99%). Pour it onto a lint-free microfiber cloth and wipe down the bed while it is at room temperature.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Magnetic Arm Joint Disconnection and Wear:

The Creatable D3 features magnetic ball-joint connections for the diagonal rods. While this makes the gantry very easy to assemble and eliminates play initially, the metal sockets and magnets wear down over time, introducing microscopic backlash. This manifests as "ghosting" or "ringing" on the printed surface.

What it is used for

Best use-cases

  • High Vases and Cylindrical Models:

Due to the delta kinematics and stationary build bed, the Creatable D3 is exceptional at printing tall, cylindrical objects. Because the print does not shift along the Y-axis, there is no risk of the model wobbling off the bed as it gets taller.
