The BQ Witbox 2 is the second generation of enclosed desktop 3D printers from the Spanish company BQ, representing a major software and hardware upgrade over the original Witbox. This model was developed to function as a reliable production machine in educational institutions and design studios. It retains the signature enclosed steel chassis but introduces a newly designed double-drive extruder, custom-made electronics, and automated bed leveling via an inductive sensor.

• Hotend: Redesigned BQ hotend operating at temperatures up to 250°C. Features a 0.4 mm brass nozzle optimized for 1.75 mm filament.

Calibration

The addition of an inductive auto-leveling sensor on the Witbox 2 simplifies bed setup but does not eliminate the need for mechanical verification. For optimal results, follow these 8 calibration steps:

• Z-Offset Calibration: The inductive sensor must measure the distance to the metal gantry under the glass bed and calculate the exact Z-offset so the nozzle does not scratch the glass.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Ribbon Cable Fatigue: The toolhead is connected to the motherboard via a flat ribbon cable that flexes constantly during printing. Over time, internal trace breaks occur, causing intermittent extruder motor failure or false temperature readings. Solution: Replace the ribbon cable with a factory spare or route a custom harness using high-flex multi-strand wire.
