Specifications

Hello Krasi, and welcome to this technical analysis of the Blocks RD50 in Duplication Mode. In this operating configuration, the large-format industrial printer shifts from standard single-toolhead extrusion to parallel production. By dividing the X-axis build space in half, the printer drives both independent carriages (T0 and T1) simultaneously to print two identical parts. Let's examine how the technical specifications and physical parameters adjust during Duplication Mode operations:

  • Hotend: Both hotends (T0 and T1) are active. Each must be configured with an identical Print Core sharing the same nozzle diameter, heater cartridge wattage (50W), and thermal properties.

Calibration

Operating the Blocks RD50 in Duplication Mode requires precise physical synchronization between both toolheads. Any height deviation greater than 0.05 mm will lead to print defects in one of the parts. Follow these 8 calibration steps:

  • Dual Nozzle Z-height Synchronization:
  • Description: Both nozzles must reside at the exact same distance from the bed. Heat the bed to 60°C and the nozzles to 150°C. Home the Z-axis.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Asymmetrical Nozzle Wear: During extended duplication runs, if one nozzle wears faster than the other (e.g., due to printing abrasive filaments), one part will exhibit under-extrusion and poor surface finish while the duplicate copy prints correctly. Solution: Replace nozzles on both toolheads at the same time when operating in parallel modes.

What it is used for

Recommended:

  • Low-Volume Batch Production: Suitable for producing enclosures, brackets, and covers up to 250 mm in width, cutting production time in half.
  • Mechanical Testing Samples: Suitable for printing identical tensile test specimens under identical thermal and slicing conditions.
