SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)

CO₂ laser sinters PA12 powder in a heated chamber. no supports: the powder bed holds it. functional parts.

SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) is a powder bed fusion process: a CO₂ or fiber laser selectively heats a thin layer of polymer powder (typically PA12) to a temperature just below melting point, sintering points into a layer. Build chamber heated to 150–180 °C. ISO/ASTM 52900 → PBF.

SLS is the workhorse for functional production parts from plastic: PA12 has strength similar to injection molding, isotropic mechanical properties, and no supports needed (powder bed = self-supporting). Ideal for complex assemblies, snap-fits, living hinges, end-use enclosures.
