FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)

the 3D printing reference. heated nozzle extruding thermoplastic filament layer by layer. most accessible, most widespread.

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) is an additive manufacturing process in which a heated extruder melts a thermoplastic filament (1.75 mm or 2.85 mm) and deposits it layer by layer along a G-code path generated by the slicer. ISO/ASTM 52900 categorises the process as MEX (Material Extrusion).

The most accessible desktop technology. Prints with real engineering materials (PLA, PETG, ABS, Nylon, PC, PEEK) at €200–2000 machine cost. No special vat, no UV cure, no ventilation for PLA. 95% of 3D printers worldwide today are FDM.
