Specifications

The XYZprinting da Vinci 1.0 Pro is a significant model in the history of the Taiwanese manufacturer XYZprinting. Unlike earlier da Vinci models, which were strictly locked to the brand's proprietary, chip-coded filament cartridges, the "Pro" was released as an open filament system, allowing the use of third-party 1.75 mm materials. This printer was designed for hobbyists, small businesses, and classrooms looking for a robust, fully enclosed machine capable of printing ABS and PLA, but its proprietary firmware and unique calibration helpers require detailed technical analysis.

  • Build Volume: The build envelope is 200 mm (X-axis) by 200 mm (Y-axis) by 200 mm (Z-axis).

Calibration

Achieving clean prints on the XYZprinting da Vinci 1.0 Pro requires mastering its semi-automatic leveling system and managing the Direct Drive extruder. Follow these eight calibration steps:

  • Cleaning the Leveling Contact Probe: Before starting the calibration process, clean the tip of the metal contact probe next to the nozzle with a wire brush or alcohol. Any plastic residue on the pin will insulate it, leading to incorrect height readings.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Ribbon Cable Fatigue and Connection Failures: The print head is connected to the motherboard via a flat ribbon cable. Continuous movement along the X and Y axes bends the cable repeatedly, leading to trace damage.
  • Symptoms: Random "MAXTEMP" or "MINTEMP" errors, mid-print stops, or sudden drops in hotend temperature.
  • Causes: Mechanical fatigue of the copper traces inside the flat ribbon cable.

What it is used for

  • ABS and ASA Printing: The enclosed chamber and 90°C heated bed make the printer suitable for technical parts made of ABS or ASA.
  • Examples: Enclosures, brackets, replacement gears, and outdoor housings.
  • Flexible Filament Printing (TPU): The Direct Drive extruder feeds soft filaments reliably, making it suitable for printing flexible gaskets and seals.
