Frame Design and Structural Concept

The WEEDO ME40 Lite is a budget-focused variant of the large-format ME40 model. The printer retains the open-frame Cartesian bed-slinger design with a 300 mm x 300 mm x 400 mm build space, but uses simplified structural components to lower the price point. The frame is constructed from standard aluminum extrusions without the reinforcing diagonal struts found on the base model, relying entirely on the T-joints for stability. The Y-axis bed moves forward and backward while the printhead carriage travels along the X-axis gantry.

Calibration

To ensure reliable print quality and mechanical stability with the WEEDO ME40 Lite, use the following calibration procedures:

• Manual Bed Leveling Protocol:

Because this model lacks auto-bed leveling, manual calibration is critical for first-layer adhesion.

• Expected result: A uniform distance between the nozzle and the build surface across the entire print area.
• Tip: Heat the bed to 60°C and the nozzle to 200°C. Use a 0.1 mm feeler gauge or a piece of paper.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Right-Side X-Axis Gantry Sag:
• Symptoms: The nozzle sits too close to the bed on the left side and too far on the right side, making bed leveling difficult.
• Cause: The single Z-axis lead screw on the left leaves the right side of the gantry unsupported, allowing gravity and roller wear to pull the right side down.
