Extruder and V4 Hotend Mechanics

The WEEDO F152S utilizes a Bowden extruder setup with the feeder motor mounted to the rear sheet-metal plate. The printhead carriage houses a proprietary WEEDO V4 hotend assembly, which is designed for quick nozzle replacements. The standard brass nozzle features a 0.4 mm orifice and an M6 thread. The hotend has a maximum safe operating temperature of 250°C. The internal heatbreak contains a PTFE liner that extends through the cooling block down to the melt zone. While this reduces resistance when printing low-temperature materials like PLA, it poses a risk of chemical degradation if the hotend is run continuously near its 250°C limit.

Calibration

To keep the WEEDO F152S running optimally, perform the following calibration steps:

• Auto-Leveling Sensor Calibration:

The auto-leveling sensor must be positioned at the correct height relative to the nozzle. The bottom of the sensor housing should sit exactly 1.5 mm higher than the tip of the nozzle.

• Expected result: The sensor triggers when the nozzle is close to the bed, preventing the nozzle from scratching the glass during homing.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• V4 Hotend Heat Creep Clogs:
• Symptoms: The extruder clicks, and filament stops extruding mid-print.
• Cause: Insufficient cooling of the hotend heat sink, or setting the retraction distance too high (over 6 mm), which pulls molten plastic into the cold zone of the PTFE liner where it hardens.
• Solution: Perform a "cold pull" with Nylon or PLA to clear the nozzle.
