Specifications

The Cocoon Create Touch is an Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printer distributed by the ALDI supermarket chain. This model is a rebranded version of the Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus. Released in late 2016, the machine addressed the major limitations of the earlier Cocoon Create models: it eliminated the separate external control box and its associated cable bundles, integrating all electronics into the printer base. Additionally, it upgraded the system architecture from a 12V system to a safer and more efficient 24V power system.

Calibration

To optimize print quality and reliability on the Cocoon Create Touch, perform these 8 calibration steps:

• Dual Z-Axis Synchronization

Because the Z-axis is driven by two independent stepper motors, they can drift out of sync when the printer is powered off. Place identical spacer blocks under the left and right sides of the X-axis gantry. Rotate one Z-axis lead screw manually until both sides of the gantry rest evenly on the spacers.

• Extruder Carriage Ribbon Cable Fatigue: The wiring harness connecting the heater, thermistor, and fans on the print head to the mainboard flexes continuously during X-axis movement. Because there is no drag chain, the internal copper conductors degrade over time. Symptoms include intermittent thermal errors (MinTemp/MaxTemp), fan failures, or printer resets mid-print.
