Extruder and Hotend Assembly

The WEEDO F150S operates on a Bowden feed extrusion system, with the stepper motor and drive gear assembly mounted to the rear panel of the steel chassis. This design keeps the printhead carriage lightweight, reducing moving inertia. The hotend is a proprietary WEEDO design (shared with the Monoprice Maker Ultimate 2) and features a quick-swap brass nozzle with a 0.4 mm orifice diameter. The thermal assembly is designed to operate at temperatures up to 220°C (with a firmware cap of 250°C). Inside the heatbreak, an internal PTFE liner runs down to the nozzle throat.

Calibration

To keep the WEEDO F150S running at peak performance, follow this calibration sequence:

• Cross-Rod Alignment and Backlash Check:

In an Ultimaker-style kinematics system, the crossing X and Y rods must remain at a perfect 90-degree angle to each other and parallel to the outer frame shafts. If the rods are out of alignment, the carriage will bind, leading to stepper motor stalls.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Axis Binding and Friction Jams:
• Symptoms: The printer skips steps on the X or Y axis, producing skewed prints or circles that look like ovals.
• Cause: Dust and filament debris build up on the cross-rods, increasing friction. The cross-gantry setup is sensitive to misalignment and dirt.
