The Imade3D JellyBOX 2 is an FDM 3D printer from Imade3D with a 175 x 175 x 150 mm build volume.

Specifications

The IMADE3D JellyBOX 2 is a highly unique desktop 3D printer designed by IMADE3D specifically for STEM education in schools, universities, and FabLabs. Its most distinguishing feature is a completely transparent acrylic chassis assembled entirely without a single screw, nut, or bolt. Instead, the structural panels are held together using heavy-duty plastic zip ties. This allows students to clearly observe the inner workings and mechanical principles of FDM 3D printing.

  • Build volume: Compact printing envelope measuring 175 × 175 × 150 mm.

Calibration

Because the JellyBOX 2 is held together with zip ties, its mechanical stability relies on proper assembly tension and regular calibration checkups.

  • Glass Bed Cleaning with IPA: Wipe down the build surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol before every print. Fingerprints from students are the most common cause of bed adhesion failures.
  • Expected result: A grease-free glass surface that ensures reliable first-layer adhesion.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Symptom: Structural wobble leading to skewed prints and layer misalignment.
  • Cause: Plastic zip ties stretching over time due to ambient heat from the print bed, or zip-tie failure.
  • Solution: Inspect the chassis regularly and replace stretched zip ties with high-quality UV-stabilized ties.
  • Symptom: Cracking of the transparent acrylic panels around structural slots.

What it is used for

Best use-cases:

  • STEM Classrooms and Maker Spaces: The best machine for teaching students how 3D printers work mechanically and electronically.
  • Low-cost Prototyping: Ideal for printing small toys, enclosures, and school projects in PLA and PETG.
  • DIY Hardware Workshops: Perfect for teaching troubleshooting, assembly, and maintenance of FDM hardware.
