The Wanhao Duplicator 6 Plus is the direct and most significant technological refinement of the classic D6 platform, introduced by the manufacturer to address user feedback and implement modernized, automated features. While retaining the proven all-metal chassis and high-precision cross-rod gantry layout (Ultimaker-style), the Plus model integrates several key upgrades: an inductive auto-leveling sensor, a resume print system for power-failure recovery, and upgraded electronics running a more stable firmware.

Calibration

The addition of auto-leveling changes the calibration routine for the Duplicator 6 Plus, requiring special attention to sensor behavior and thermal conditions:

• Inductive Sensor Z-Offset Calibration: Since the printer relies on an inductive probe, the physical distance between the nozzle tip and the probe trigger point (Z-offset) must be defined precisely in the software.
• Expected result: A uniform first layer across the BuildTak sheet without scraping the surface.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Inductive Sensor Thermal Failures: Because the probe is located directly next to the heater block (250°C) and operates inside an enclosed chamber, the plastic casing of the probe can soften or warp over time. This leads to inaccurate leveling data and carriage collisions. Solution: Wrap the probe body in reflective Kapton tape or replace it with a high-temperature metal-shelled inductive sensor.
