The Skriware 2 is an FDM 3D printer from Skriware with a 410 x 470 x 630 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Skriware 2 is a desktop FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer manufactured by the Polish company Skriware. Engineered with a focus on primary and secondary educational environments, this machine is part of the broader SkriLab STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) ecosystem. It combines dual-extrusion capability with user-friendly operation to make 3D printing accessible in classrooms.

  • Frame, Chassis, and Kinematic Architecture

The printer is built upon an enclosed steel chassis featuring semi-transparent polycarbonate side panels and a magnetic front door.

Calibration

To maintain optimal print quality in educational environments with the Skriware 2, follow this 8-step calibration guide:

  • PEI Surface Cleaning and Preparation

Before starting a print, remove the flexible steel sheet and clean it thoroughly with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and a lint-free micro-fiber cloth. Avoid touching the clean surface with bare hands, as skin oils degrade print adhesion.

  • Expected result: A degreased PEI surface ensuring strong first-layer adhesion.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Nozzle Clogging from Educational Use: Due to frequent use by students, incorrect shutdown procedures or leaving filament in the hot nozzle can cook the plastic, leading to blockages.
  • PEI Surface Damage: Students often attempt to scrape prints off the bed using sharp objects before the plate has cooled, causing deep scratches on the PEI surface.

What it is used for

Best use-cases

  • STEAM Education: Excellent for classroom demonstrations and student projects due to its intuitive interface and enclosed design.
  • Complex Geometries with PVA+ Supports: Ideal for printing anatomical models, gears, and interlocking assemblies where support structures can be dissolved in water.
