The Rigid3D Zero3 is an FDM 3D printer from Rigid3D with a 200 x 200 x 200 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Rigid3D Zero3 is one of the most advanced and modern models in the Turkish manufacturer's product lineup. It is designed as a fully enclosed, plug-and-play desktop 3D printer targeted at professional engineering prototyping, educational makerspaces, and architectural labs. With multiple hardware protections, a custom reduction-geared direct extruder, and a robust steel enclosure, it stands out as a reliable machine for technical polymers.

  • Hotend: The printer features a custom Direct Drive extrusion system with dual-drive gears and a 1:3 gear reduction ratio. This reduction configuration provides high torque and precise extrusion control.

Calibration

Maintaining the high accuracy of the Rigid3D Zero3 requires a precise calibration routine:

  • Nozzle Tip Cleaning for Bed Homing: Before starting the auto-bed leveling sequence, ensure the nozzle tip is completely free of plastic residue or filament ooze. Preheat the nozzle to 150°C (hot enough to soften plastic but not melt it completely) and clean the tip carefully with a brass wire brush.
  • Expected result: Accurate electrical or mechanical contact detection.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Nozzle Debris Homing Failures:
  • Symptoms: The nozzle crashes violently into the glass bed during the auto-leveling sequence, potentially scratching the plate or bending the aluminum bed support.
  • Cause: Filament residue or carbonized plastic on the tip of the nozzle prevents proper electrical grounding or contact detection. The controller fails to register the touch and continues driving the Z-axis motor.

What it is used for

Recommended Applications

  • Ultra-Soft Flexible Filaments: The 1:3 reduction direct extruder handles soft TPU and TPE down to 75A Shore hardness reliably, preventing buckling.
  • Technical Polymers (ABS, ASA, PETG): The fully enclosed powder-coated steel chassis captures heat, preventing warping and layer splitting in large ABS prints.
