Modix V4 BIG-Meter

The Modix V4 BIG-Meter is an FDM 3D printer from Modix with a 1000 x 1000 x 1000 mm build volume.

Calibration

• Establish the printer’s thermal baseline before touching geometry

Action: Power the machine from a stable 208–240 V single-phase supply, confirm the bed heater zone indicators, and preheat to the material’s target range before any calibration sequence. For PLA-style setup work, use a moderate warm state; for ABS/ASA work, bring the bed close to the upper end of the machine’s supported range, noting the bed maximum of 120°C.

Common defects

• Ambiguous hotend temperature capability across sources: One source describes the upgraded hotend components as rated for 500°C and verified up to 340°C, while another lists the standard hotend max temperature as 285°C and an optional 500°C setup requiring a PT100 thermistor add-on. Symptom: users may believe the machine is natively 500°C-capable when their installed configuration is not.
