Modix V4 BIG-180X

The Modix V4 BIG-180X is an FDM 3D printer from Modix with a 1800 x 600 x 600 mm build volume.

Calibration

• Establish the machine as a mechanically square baseline before any slicer tuning.

Action: Assemble the frame on a level floor, tighten all T-slot frame joints in a cross pattern, and verify that both long rails are parallel before powering the machine. Check that the gantry moves freely from end to end with motors disabled, then confirm belt tension is symmetrical left-to-right and front-to-back.

Common defects

• Large-format first-layer inconsistency across the bed
• Symptoms: The center may adhere well while one edge is too squished or too high; long prints may show corner lift or inconsistent extrusion width across the 1800 × 600 mm span.
• Causes: Even with the Mic-6 plate and automatic tilt correction, thermal expansion, frame squareness, and Z synchronization errors can create local variation on a bed this large .
