Laser and Optics

The Kings SLA 600 Pro uses a 355 nm Nd:YVO4 laser (≥300 mW) with a patented variable-beam optical system that switches spot diameter between 0.08 mm (fine-detail mode for edges and small features) and 0.8 mm (fast-fill mode for solid cross-sections). The galvanometric scanner reaches up to 15,000 mm/s: among the fastest for a 600 mm-class platform.

Platform and Mechanics

The Z-platform sits on a granite marble base (total machine mass 990 kg) for vibration isolation and thermal stability. Z-axis repeatability ±0.0005 mm. Dimensional accuracy ±0.1 mm for features ≤100 mm and ±0.1%×L for longer dimensions.

Calibration

Platform levelling: parallelism ≤0.05 mm across 600×600 mm; mandatory after every machine move.

Dual optics focus: narrow (0.08 mm) and wide (0.8 mm) modes calibrated independently with the manufacturer's test plate; incorrect focus in wide mode produces rough fill surfaces.

Jacob Working Curve: Cd/Ec profiling per resin batch; errors propagate across the entire 240 kg vat run.

Common defects

Layer delamination at supports: cause: low adhesion + high scan speed; fix: reduce speed for first 5 layers, increase base thickness.

Surface roughness in wide-beam mode: cause: Ec/Cd profile not tuned for 0.8 mm mode; fix: recalibrate working curve, reduce power by 10–15%.

Warping of flat plates > 300 mm: cause: internal stress in large cross-sections; fix: add compensating ribs + reduce Cd by 10%.

What it is used for

Automotive prototyping: 600×600 mm accommodates interior panels in a single session at ±0.1 mm fit-and-form accuracy.

Sole moulds (footwear industry): Ra < 0.1 µm finish and ±0.1 mm repeatability allow direct use as master models.

Medical device prototyping: open resin system supports biocompatible 355 nm photopolymers.
