The Kingroon KP3S Pro is an FDM 3D printer from Kingroon with a 200 x 200 x 200 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Kingroon KP3S Pro represents a significant hardware upgrade to the classic cantilever design of the KP3S series. This model was developed to address common user feedback regarding the original model, specifically its small build volume and external power supply brick. By integrating the power supply into the metal chassis base and expanding the print dimensions, the KP3S Pro offers a clean workspace and improved stability in a highly competitive hobbyist price range.

  • Hotend: The toolhead features a Direct Drive Titan-style extruder with a 3:1 gear reduction ratio, similar to the base model, but includes an upgraded metal tensioner arm for durability.

Calibration

Follow this calibration cookbook to align the gantry and optimize prints on the Kingroon KP3S Pro:

  • Z-Column Squaring (Gantry Orthogonality): Because the printer uses a cantilever design, any Z-column misalignment relative to the base will cause the X-axis gantry to sag on the right. Place the printer on a flat surface, loosen the three main bolts securing the Z-column to the base, align the column to exactly 90 degrees using an engineer's square, and retighten the bolts.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Cantilever Gantry Sag: Despite the reinforced base joint, the single Z-axis lead screw on the left can allow the right side of the X-axis gantry to sag if the Z-carriage rollers wear. Fix: Regularly adjust the carriage rollers or install a dual Z-axis upgrade kit with a second stepper motor and lead screw.
  • Chassis Power Supply Overheating: The integrated 360W power supply is enclosed in the small metal base.

What it is used for

Best use-cases

  • Small-to-Medium PLA/PETG Prints: The X and Y linear guide rails provide excellent surface quality for decorative models, brackets, and small enclosures.
  • Flexible Components in TPU (Shore 95A): The direct Titan extruder handles standard TPU well, making it suitable for gaskets, bumpers, and phone cases.
