The Hyper K is an FDM 3D printer from Mixware with a 200 x 200 x 200 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Mixware Hyper K is a compact, open-frame desktop 3D printer utilizing Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology. Designed as an entry-level or experimental counterpart to the more robust Hyper-S model, it is tailored primarily for hobbyists, educational environments, and engineering labs seeking basic prototyping capabilities without the hefty investment associated with industrial-grade systems.

  • Build volume: Although the official database lists the build volume dimensions as zero (n/a) due to limited manufacturer documentation, the physical layout of the Hyper K points to a compact desktop footprint, typically offering around 200 × 200 × 200 mm of printable space.

Calibration

Achieving high-quality prints with the Mixware Hyper K requires a disciplined approach to manual calibration. Because the machine lacks automatic sensor-based feedback loops, physical tuning is critical.

  • Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) Bed Cleaning: Before starting any print, the build surface must be thoroughly cleaned to remove oils, fingerprints, and dust. Wipe the bed down with a lint-free microfiber cloth soaked in 99% IPA while the bed is cold and powered off.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Symptom: Progressive decline in print quality, Z-axis binding, or visible banding (Z-wobble) on the walls of printed parts.
  • Cause: Bent or poor-quality Z-axis lead screw, or lack of proper lubrication on the brass lead screw nut.
  • Solution: Thoroughly clean the lead screw with a degreaser and apply high-quality lithium- or PTFE-based grease.

What it is used for

Best use-cases:

  • STEM Education and DIY Learning: Because the printer features a simple, visible Cartesian design, it is ideal for teaching students the mechanics of 3D printing. Slicing, physical leveling, and basic troubleshooting are all highly visible.
