Technology

The HP MJF 1200 uses Multi Jet Fusion technology in a compact format: 80 µm layers of PA 12 HR powder, agent heads (fusing + detailing), and IR/UV lamps for activation. Despite its reduced size, the system uses the identical core production principle as the industrial 5200/5600 families.

Build Volume

220 × 200 × 250 mm (12 litres): sufficient for 82 average parts (~12 cm³ each) in a single build.

Throughput

Standard mode: under 12 hours for a full build. Print time is independent of part count: the system processes the entire layer with each pass.

Calibration

Calibration of the HP MJF 1200

• Thermal stabilization: with the compact 12-litre volume, equilibrium is reached in approximately 45-60 minutes after a cold start. Expected uniformity: ±2 °C.
• PA 12 HR powder verification: check refresh rate (≤ 80% recycled) and moisture content (< 0.08%). Store powder in sealed containers.
• Agent head nozzle test: run the check before every build; expected: no missing nozzles.

Common defects

Common Defects on the HP MJF 1200

Warping of flat parts

Symptom: Edges of flat parts curl upward. Cause: thermal gradient during cooling. Fix: vertical orientation or 45° tilt; powder nesting.

Porous zones in solid parts

Symptom: Internal porosity visible on mechanical testing. Cause: defective nozzles or depleted fusing agent. Fix: nozzle test; replace agent cartridge.

Rough surface

Symptom: Grainy appearance. Cause: degraded powder.
