Technology

HP Multi Jet Fusion with an 8-agent color system, fusing agent, detailing agent, and four CMYK color agents are simultaneously jetted by inkjet printheads onto the heated powder bed, creating full-color geometry voxel by voxel.

Build Volume

190 × 254 × 248 mm: identical to the monochrome Jet Fusion 340.

Resolution and Layers

1200 dpi; fixed 80 µm layer. Color is embedded throughout the part volume, not just on the surface, provided wall thickness is at least 1.5–2 mm.

Agent System

8 agents: Fusing Agent (black), Detailing Agent (white/clear), Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key (Black), plus 2 additional.

Calibration

• 8-agent diagnostic test: print a color diagnostic page for all 8 channels. Expect uniform color swatches without streaks. For any deviations, run the Head Cleaning Routine for the affected heads.
• Build Unit installation: cooled BU into the printer; green status from the system. Never install a hot BU.
• PA 12 powder loading: load via Powder Management Station.

Common defects

Color fading and non-uniformity, the most frequent issue. Cause: depleted or clogged CMYK agent heads. Fix: regular diagnostics and cleaning; check agent levels.

Warping: identical to other MJF systems. Fix: full cooling cycle; tilted orientation for flat parts.

Porosity in dark zones: excessive black agent can inhibit sintering. Fix: limit maximum black agent coverage in Build Manager.
