Technology

HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF), powder-bed polymer process with IR activation and inkjet agent heads. Identical technology to the Jet Fusion 340 but with an extended Y-axis.

Build Volume

190 × 332 × 248 mm (X × Y × Z). The longer Y-axis (332 mm vs. 254 mm on the 340 model) enables longer parts or denser nesting: approximately 30% more volume than the 340.

Resolution and Layers

1200 dpi; fixed 80 µm layer. Minimum recommended wall thickness ~0.5 mm.

Agent System

4-agent monochrome configuration: fusing agent and detailing agent only. Black and white only: no color agents. Agents are managed automatically.

Calibration

Calibration: HP Jet Fusion 540

• Agent diagnostic test: print a diagnostic page before each run. With the extended 332 mm Y-axis, pay special attention to uniformity along the full length. Expect uniform coverage with no streaks.
• Build Unit installation: place the cooled BU (below 40 °C) and lock. Green status confirms correct leveling.
• PA 12 loading: the larger platform area requires more powder; check level before long jobs.

Common defects

Warping of long flat parts, more prevalent on the 540 than the 340 due to the longer Y-axis. Fix: full 40+ hour cooling cycle; tilted orientation; splitting very long parts into segments.

Porosity: clogged or worn printhead; depleted fusing agent. Fix: Head Cleaning Routine; check agent levels.

Non-uniform surface along Y-axis: weaker IR uniformity at the edges of the extended platform.
