HP Jet Fusion 3D 4210: Technical Profile

Technology and Print Mechanism

As a member of the 4200 series, the 4210 uses HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF): a full-bed thermal process with 1200 dpi deposition of Fusing and Detailing Agents by a multi-nozzle carriage, combined with simultaneous infrared heating of the powder bed.

Build Volume and Layer Resolution

380 × 284 × 380 mm build chamber: identical to the original 4200. Layer resolution 80–100 µm; 80 µm is standard for precision engineering parts.

Throughput

4115 cm³/h: same scan speed as the 4200; the improved production cycle comes from the 300 L powder containers, reducing refill frequency during continuous manufacturing.

Calibration

Calibrating the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4210

  • Warm-up and verification: AutoWarmUp heats the build chamber to the material profile. Wait for HP SmartStream confirmation. For TPU, switch the material profile: operating temperature differs from PA 12.
  • Nozzle check: test jetting of both agents; expect ≥98% active nozzles. For TPU, increase check frequency (more viscous material). On failure: run the cleaning cycle.

Common defects

Common Defects in HP Jet Fusion 3D 4210

Porosity: Internal voids and reduced strength. Cause: clogged Fusing Agent nozzles or degraded powder with high recycled ratio. Fix: test and clean nozzles; reduce Refresh Ratio.

Warping: Especially in flat PA 11 parts. Cause: uneven cooling or excessive chamber temperature. Fix: tilted orientation; do not accelerate cooling; inspect Processing Station.

TPU stringing: Fine strings between separated geometries.

What it is used for

Applications of the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4210

Best use cases:

  • High-traffic service bureaus: 300 L containers minimize downtime for refilling during continuous production shifts.
  • TPU end-use parts, soft seals, shoe soles, cushioning housings, the 4210 is among the early HP MJF systems with official TPU support.
