The Hello Bee Prusa is an FDM 3D printer from Beeverycreative with a 185 x 200 x 190 mm build volume.

Specifications

The helloBEEprusa (commonly referred to as the Hello Bee Prusa) is an open-source DIY 3D printer kit co-developed by the Portuguese manufacturer BEEVERYCREATIVE and Hello 3D Printing World. While built upon the architectural foundations of the classic Prusa i3 design, it is a standalone product engineered to offer multi-material and dual-color printing capabilities in a modular package.

  • Hotend: The printer features a full-metal dual extrusion printhead with two independent nozzles. Each nozzle has its own dedicated heater block and heatbreak, preventing color blending or material cross-contamination. The hotends can reach temperatures up to 260°C.

Calibration

Assembling and calibrating the dual-extrusion helloBEEprusa requires mechanical alignment and software optimization. Follow these ten calibration steps:

  • Physical Nozzle Height Equalization:

Loosen the mounting clamps for both hotends. Lower the Z-axis until the left nozzle touches the bed. Manually adjust the height of the right nozzle until it rests flat against the bed surface at the same height as the left. Verify alignment with a feeler gauge, then tighten the clamps.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Nozzle Height Alignment Difficulty: The lack of a fine vertical adjustment mechanism for the hotends makes aligning both nozzle heights tedious.
  • Symptoms: The inactive nozzle scrapes and detaches printed models, or one nozzle fails to stick to the bed.
  • Remedy: Install a modified print carriage that incorporates set screws for fine height adjustment of one hotend.

What it is used for

Best Use-Cases:

  • Complex Overhanging Geometries: Printing models with internal cavities or overhangs using soluble PVA support structures.
  • DIY & Educational Assembly: Teaching students and engineers the mechanics of 3D printing and dual-extrusion calibration.
  • Multi-Color Custom Designs: Fabricating dual-color nameplates, signs, and decorative items.
