The Goofoo Tiny is an FDM 3D printer from Goofoo with a 100 x 100 x 100 mm build volume.

Specifications

The Goofoo Tiny (manufactured by Xiamen Goofoo Technology) is a compact, lightweight FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer designed primarily for classrooms, early STEM education, young makers, and budget-conscious hobbyists. The machine features an open frame design with a single-arm cantilever motion system, placing safety, ease of operation, and portability at the core of its architecture.

  • Hotend and Extruder: The printer features a direct-drive extruder mounted directly on the carriage, which shortens the filament path. The hotend is capped in the firmware at a maximum operating temperature of 200 °C.

Calibration

Achieving high-quality prints on the Goofoo Tiny requires precise calibration to compensate for its cantilever kinematics and unheated build plate.

  • Vertical Z-Axis Column Alignment (Perpendicularity Check)

Due to the single-column cantilever design, the vertical Z-axis profile can become misaligned relative to the base plate during shipping or assembly. Use a machinist's square to check if the Z-axis profile forms a strict 90-degree angle with the steel base.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Cantilever Sag (X-axis Droop): Over time, the Z-axis carriage rollers wear down, causing the right end of the cantilever arm to sag by 1–2 mm. This results in poor adhesion on the right side of the bed. Adjusting the eccentric nuts on the Z-axis carriage is required to eliminate this play.
  • Rapid Guide Bushing Wear: To reduce costs, the printer uses brass slide bushings on the X and Y axes instead of linear ball bearings.

What it is used for

Best use-cases:

  • STEM Classrooms and Libraries: Excellent for introducing students to additive manufacturing. Its low power consumption, quiet operation, and covered belts make it safe for group learning environments.
