The Goofoo Cube (often referred to as the Goofoo Cube Mini) is an ultra-compact, user-friendly FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer designed primarily for children, STEM education, beginners, and low-complexity hobby printing. Its construction prioritizes ease of use, compact design, and strict safety guidelines appropriate for young learners.

• Hotend and Extruder: The printer features a direct-drive extrusion system integrated with a proprietary single-nozzle hotend. The maximum extrusion temperature is hard-locked in the firmware and electronics at 190 °C.

Calibration

To achieve consistent print quality and overcome the mechanical limitations of the cantilever frame, follow these detailed calibration steps.

• Cantilever X-Axis Sag Correction

Because the X-axis guide rail is supported only on the left column, the right side of the gantry can droop over time. Before leveling the bed, measure the distance from the X-axis rail to the printer base on both the left and right sides using a digital caliper.

Common defects

• Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
• Cantilever Gantry Sag: The single-arm X-axis construction is prone to sagging on the right side over time due to the weight of the direct extruder. This creates an uneven Z-height across the bed. Correcting this requires regular maintenance of the eccentric rollers on the left Z-axis carriage.
• Extruder Gear Slippage: The plastic extruder housing uses a weak spring and small drive gear.

What it is used for

Best use-cases:

• Early Childhood STEM Education: Ideal for classrooms and kids' workshops. The low extrusion temperature (for PCL) and lack of a hot bed make it safe for children to observe up close.
• Quick Miniatures and Toys: Excellent for printing small figurines, game tokens, and simple models under 8 cm in size. The 0.7 mm nozzle builds these parts very quickly.
