The Foto 13.3 is an LCD 3D printer from Flashforge with a 292 x 165 x 400 mm build volume.

Light Engine: 13.3-inch monochrome 4K LCD panel with 2000-hour rated lifespan: industrial grade for prosumer use.

Build Volume: 292 × 165 × 400 mm: exceptional 400 mm Z-travel, one of the longest available in desktop MSLA.

XY Resolution: ~76 µm pixel (4K at 13.3 inches): coarser than 8K/12K competitors, but sufficient for prototypes, architectural elements, and functional parts.

Minimum Layer: 25 µm: enables smooth surfaces at slow print speeds.

Materials: Open material system: ABS-like, engineering, castable, water-washable, rubber-like 405 nm resins.

Calibration

Leveling at Long Z: At 400 mm travel, small deviations accumulate: mandatory paper-test plus an additional test print after every re-leveling.

Elephant Foot Compensation: At 76 µm pixel, elephant foot is more visible; set bottom layers to 4–6 × 35–50 s and add horizontal compensation offset (+0.1 mm) in the slicer.

RERF Test: Mandatory for every new resin on the large LCD area: edge falloff makes corners more sensitive than the center.

Common defects

Delamination in Upper Z-Register: At 400 mm column, Z-backlash and vibrations are more pronounced than at 200 mm. Reduce lift speed to 3 mm/s and add 0.8 s rest time.

Suction Cup Effect: Large FEP area means flat parts generate significant vacuum. Orient parts at 15–45°; add ventilation channels in closed cavities.

Bloom at 76 µm Pixel: Not a defect but a physical resolution limit: parts with features below 0.4 mm reach the machine's ceiling.

What it is used for

Tall Vertical Objects: 400 mm Z-travel is the key differentiator: columns, bodies, architectural profiles, and full-scale models without splitting.

Batch Production of Medium Parts: Large working space allows mass parallel printing at reasonable material costs; 2000 h LCD is oriented toward longer production use.
