Specifications

Hello Krasi, and welcome to this technical analysis of the Blocks Pro S100. Today, we are stepping into Blocks Technology’s professional and industrial grade hardware segment. Built to serve business customers requiring high dimensional repeatability and engineering polymer compatibility, the Pro S100 distinguishes itself through a modular swappable Print Core architecture, rigid motion mechanics, and a semi-enclosed chassis. Let's break down its verified technical specifications:

  • Hotend: The hotend utilizes a swappable modular print core design (similar to Ultimaker's Print Core concept).

Calibration

Configuring the Blocks Pro S100 requires balancing mechanical alignment with software compensation. Follow these 8 calibration steps to achieve high precision:

  • Z-axis Linear Guide Synchronization (Gantry Squaring):
  • Description: Because the Z-axis is driven by two independent stepper motors, the print bed can tilt left or right if the motors lose synchronization when powered down. Turn off the printer.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Pogo Pin Contact Wear on Print Head: Modular Print Cores connect to the carriage interface via spring-loaded contacts (pogo pins). Over time, due to heat and outgassing from polymers, these contact points can oxidize or accumulate carbon residue. This causes intermittent temperature sensor errors, triggering thermal shutdown mid-print. Solution: Clean the contact pads regularly with electrical contact cleaner and a lint-free swab.

What it is used for

Recommended:

  • Functional Engineering Prototypes: Suitable for producing high-strength parts using Nylon, CF-Nylon, and ASA.
  • Manufacturing Jigs and Fixtures: The rectangular build volume and rigid motion platform make it suitable for manufacturing assembly aids for industrial shop floors.
