Specifications

Hello Krasi, and welcome to this technical review of the Blocks One MKII! This machine represents the refined second generation of the Portuguese manufacturer's desktop series. Developed to address the requirements of small-scale business production and advanced makers, the MKII introduced enhanced safety parameters, a dual-drive feeding mechanism, a 24V electrical architecture, and assisted calibration. Let's explore its verified technical specifications:

  • Hotend: The hotend on the MKII is designed to handle a broader array of materials, supporting temperatures up to 270°C. This is made possible by a refined thermal break geometry with optimized cooling on the cold end.

Calibration

To extract high dimensional accuracy and surface quality from the Blocks One MKII, follow these 8 calibration routines:

  • Cartesian Axis Orthogonality Verification:
  • Description: The X and Y axes must be perpendicular. Print a large, flat 200x200x2 mm square. Measure the two diagonals of the print using a digital caliper. Any difference between the diagonal measurements indicates axis skewing.

Common defects

  • Hardware defects and mechanical weaknesses
  • Extruder Tension Spring Fatigue: The dual-drive extruder uses a tension spring to press the idler gear against the filament. Over time, this spring can lose its tension, leading to filament slippage and intermittent under-extrusion during high-flow printing. Solution: Check spring tension regularly and add a spacer washer to increase spring compression if needed.

What it is used for

Recommended:

  • High-Detail Prototyping: The 24V power supply and dual-drive extruder allow for consistent execution of highly detailed parts.
  • PLA, PETG, and TPU Printing: The dual-drive gears grip soft filaments well, allowing for successful printing of flexible TPU (Shore 95A).
