Calibration

  • Establish the machine’s baseline before touching slicer profiles.

Action: Power on the M5, allow it to complete its startup checks, verify that the toolhead homes cleanly on all axes, and confirm the build plate is clean, mounted flat, and latched correctly. Then run the printer’s automatic bed mesh routine so the system can sample its full 7×7 grid of 49 points before the first serious test print.

Common defects

  • Effective print area can be smaller than the advertised build volume.

Symptoms: Models that theoretically fit within 235 × 235 mm may fail at the edges, or the slicer may constrain usable dimensions to about 225 × 225 mm in practice.

Causes: Mechanical margins, boundary safety limits, and slicer-specific conservative definitions of printable area can shrink the practical platform compared with the marketing envelope.
