Make a 3D printing quote for your customer from their STL file
Upload your customer's STL file and describe the order: quantity, material, deadline. The AI assistant EDi Quote measures the model, works out weight and an approximate machine time and gives you a quote as a PDF to check and send. Its screen and answers are in Bulgarian.

What a 3D printing quote from an STL file is
A 3D printing quote is the document that tells a customer what the job costs, how soon it is ready and on what terms. EDi Quote is an AI assistant on EduFacturing for 3D printer operators: you upload the customer's STL and describe the order, and it measures the model and drafts a quote.
The model is measured by a program: volume, size, smallest dimension, share of overhangs and whether the mesh is closed. Weight is volume times the material's density, and the assistant determines the density and the sums in the quote, so check them.
It is part of Ultra: one question costs 20 credits, so at most 75 questions a month if you spend no credits on other assistants. If a run fails, the credits are returned.
What the assistant does with your customer's STL
Measures the customer's STL file
Volume, size, smallest dimension, surface, share of overhangs and whether the mesh is closed. With an open mesh the volume is approximate, which the assistant is told to note as a risk.
Works out the weight and the material
Weight = volume · density. The hourly rate, electricity and margin are yours or stated as an assumption.
Shows the working
Material, machine time, preparation and supports, margin. The time is an estimate from volume and complexity, not slicing.
Writes a quote as a PDF
A table of lines with quantity, unit price and amount, and a total. Delivery time, conditions, notes and assumptions are added when the assistant fills them in (it is told to). A draft to check before sending.
When to quote a 3D printing job with the assistant
For operators who print for customers and do not want to price every request by hand.
An enquiry with the customer's file
You upload the STL and write, in Bulgarian, “a quote for 3 pieces of this part, PETG, by Friday” (an example from the screen).
Several options for one job
A single piece in ASA at top quality, or 10 pieces in PLA, cheapest option (examples from the screen).
After a model check
A model from the EDi DFAM Review or EDi Constructor assistant moves on to the quote without a new upload.
How the price in the 3D printing quote is reached
The quote goes through three steps: measuring by a program, looking up the density and a calculation by the assistant with stated assumptions.
A program measures the model
The STL gives volume, size, smallest dimension, surface, overhang share and whether the mesh is closed.
The assistant looks up the density
The assistant is told to look the density up in the EDi Brain rules; the search does not always find it. There are no ready market rates.
The assistant calculates and writes
Material, time, preparation, margin and total, with the assumptions in a separate section of the PDF.
| Applies to | Formula | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | volume · density | volume is from the STL, density from the rules (not always found); the assistant multiplies them |
| Overhang | a face turned downwards with a slope over 45° from vertical | share of the surface area; faces within 0.6 mm of the bed do not count |
| Open mesh | volume by convex hull | approximate volume; the assistant is told to give a range, not an exact price |
The working is shown and the assumptions stated
Your own file is measured
Volume and size come from measuring the STL, not from a description; the file is read as millimetres.
The assumptions are in plain sight
The rate, electricity and margin the assistant assumes should go into an Assumptions section of the PDF: it is told to.
A range when unsure
With an open mesh or missing data the assistant is told to give a range and conditions, not an exact price.
The sums in the quote are worked out by the AI assistant, not by a program: the lines go into the document unchecked. Printing time is an estimate, not slicing. Rate, electricity and margin are your numbers or assumptions: the database has no market rates. The screen and answers are in Bulgarian.
As of 10.10.2026 the unit prices, line amounts and total in the quote are in leva. It takes STL only, up to 30 MB, and without a file the quote follows your description. The answers are written by AI and may contain mistakes. Files are deleted after 24 hours.
Questions about quoting 3D printing jobs
How to quote 3D printing jobs?
Upload the customer's STL, describe quantity, material and deadline, press the “Питай” (Ask) button and you get a calculation and a quote as a PDF. If the assistant first asks a clarifying question, there is no file, but the credits are charged. Check the quote: it is a draft.
How to price 3D printing services from an STL file?
The assistant measures the volume, looks up the material's density, works out weight, adds time, preparation and margin and records the assumptions. Check the weight and the sums. You can set the rate and margin yourself.
What is measured from the STL file?
Volume, size, smallest dimension, surface, share of overhangs and whether the mesh is closed.
Can I get a quote without an STL file?
Yes. The file is optional, but then there is no measured volume and the calculation follows your description.
Does it work in English?
No. The screen and the answers are in Bulgarian. In a test on 10.10.2026 an English question to another assistant, DFAM, also got a Bulgarian answer.
How much does the 3D printing quote assistant cost?
It is part of Ultra at 39 EUR a month with 1500 credits. One question costs 20 credits, so at most 75 questions a month if you spend no credits on other assistants. Credits are monthly and do not roll over.
The 3D printing quote assistant is part of Ultra
